Laura E. Gustafson

Prior Experience

Laura’s legal experience includes serving as a judicial law clerk to Federal District Judge John R. Tunheim (District of Minnesota), where she researched and drafted judicial opinions, trial documents, and sentencing materials, and supported the court during a Ninth Circuit sitting in Phoenix. She previously externed for Federal Magistrate Judge Thorson (District of Minnesota), assisting with settlement conferences and drafting opinions in social security appeals.

Laura served as a summer associate at the firm in 2022. She worked on legal memoranda and drafted documents in labor and employment, business litigation, and benefits law.

Before entering the legal field, Laura gained diverse professional experience across health care, public service and education. She worked as a bilingual clinic assistant at Planned Parenthood, supporting Spanish-speaking patients and assisting with insurance and funding applications. At EPPA, she served as a medical scribe in an emergency room, documenting patient histories and clinical decisions. Laura also interned for Senator Amy Klobuchar, where she engaged with constituents and supported casework. Earlier in her career, she served as an undergraduate zoology instructor at the University of Minnesota, designing lessons and assessments for students.

Personal Interests

Laura enjoys traveling to experience new cultures and cuisines and reading. She loves to watch any live sports, particularly tennis and baseball.  Most often, Laura can often be found chasing after her two young daughters.
