Overview

Ben Grossman represents clients in product liability litigation, commercial litigation, and mass torts. Ben’s practice spans a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food and agribusiness, automobile, consumer products, social media, and sports. His experience extends across the litigation lifespan — from preliminary motions, fact discovery, depositions, and expert discovery to dispositive motions, trials, and appeals.

Ben’s practice focuses primarily on defending medical device, pharmaceutical, and other industry clients in complex mass torts and multidistrict litigation. His mass tort and multidistrict litigation experience includes developing foundations for favorable bellwether selection, leading defense coordination for affirmative discovery, and readying bellwether cases for trial. Ben has also been an integral team member for bellwether and other mass tort trials that resulted in significant defense victories.

He also litigates extensively in the Pennsylvania state courts, where Ben employs knowledge and skill in state and local practice that he first developed during his time as a law clerk in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.

Ben maintains an active pro bono practice representing clients in immigration deportation and asylum proceedings.

Prior Experience

Before joining the firm, Ben worked at a regional litigation boutique where he regularly drafted pleadings, propounded and answered written discovery, conducted depositions, drafted pretrial and dispositive motions, arbitrated cases, and assisted with the firm’s appellate practice. Immediately following law school, Ben served as a law clerk to the Honorable Denis P. Cohen of the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia County.

During law school, Ben served as a judicial intern to the Honorable George A. O’Toole, Jr., of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and to the Honorable Kimberly S. Budd of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Ben also worked as a student-attorney with Boston College Law School’s immigration clinic to provide pro bono legal services to indigent nonresidents in deportation proceedings. His work with the immigration clinic earned him the Clinical Legal Education Association’s Outstanding Clinical Student Award.

Personal Interests

In his free time, Ben enjoys reading, cooking, rock climbing, traveling, playing ice hockey and snowboarding.
