Overview

Madeline Ehlinger counsels clients in litigation and dispute resolution.

Prior Experience

Madeline gained broad legal experience through roles in both public and private practice, including judicial, prosecutorial and firm settings. As a summer associate with the firm, she completed research and writing assignments, drafted motions, and contributed to pro bono matters across multiple practice areas. She also served as a judicial intern for Judge Ann Peacock of the Dane County Circuit Court, where she drafted opinions, prepared memoranda and conducted in-depth legal research to support the court’s decision-making. Earlier in her career, Madeline worked with the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, drafting appellate briefs and motions in criminal cases.

While in law school, she served as a research assistant to Professor David Schwartz at the University of Wisconsin Law School, supporting constitutional law scholarship through research, citation and publication assistance. Additionally, her Comment, “The Dollar Store Conundrum,” was published in the Wisconsin Law Review. It explores the issue of food deserts throughout the United States, proposing that dollar stores contribute negatively to food access for lower socioeconomic demographics and take advantage of harmful race-based exclusionary zoning, in addition to hurting rural economies and proliferating crime. The Comment ultimately urges action at the state legislative level.

Personal Interests

Outside of the office, Madeline is an avid distance runner who has completed the Pittsburgh and Madison Marathons. She also enjoys hiking with her husband and her dog, Bogey, having summited several of Colorado’s “fourteeners.” Madeline worked professionally as an opera singer before law school, and is still passionate about the arts. She is also a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.
