Erica MacDonald Discusses Minnesota’s DHS Investigation Into Behavioral Health Grants with KSTP

Partner and former U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Erica MacDonald spoke with KSTP about an investigation launched by Minnesota’s Department of Human Services’ (DHS) after a legislative auditor revealed falsified documentation and the mismanagement of taxpayer funds in the agency’s Behavioral Health Administration grants.

MacDonald emphasized that this kind of incident would be considered a red flag for state and federal agencies investigating fraud in Minnesota. “Anytime that you have a government actor making a false material statement in the course of an audit, that is an issue.”

KSTP noted that the department has not indicated how many employees are under investigation or whether anyone has been disciplined or fired for the conduct described in the audit.
