Megan Herber Discusses Oncology Practice Regulations With Oncology News Central
Government and regulatory consulting principal Megan Herber commented on regulations impacting oncology practice and payer relationships in an article for Oncology News Central that covered the 2025 Community Oncology Exchange Summit in Reston, Virginia.
Two policies, enacted during the first Donald Trump administration, have increased price transparency between practices and payers. An executive order in 2019 required hospitals to publish their standard charges and for insurers to share their rates with both in-network and out-of-network providers. Another is the “No Surprises Act,” which increased data sharing requirements.
“Basically, both hospitals and insurance companies are now required to post publicly machine-readable files on their websites with certain price transparency data,” Herber noted at the Summit. Because the files are machine readable, “they’re not inherently consumer friendly, but there are certain requirements of what they have to post.”
