Mollie Sitkowski Discusses Recent Tariff Appellate Decision With Bloomberg

Customs and international trade partner Mollie Sitkowski spoke with Bloomberg about the recent appeals court decision that ruled President Donald Trump’s global tariffs illegal. 

The article noted that while the appellate decision found the tariffs to be illegal, it nevertheless upheld levies while the case proceeds. The next step could be either an appeal to the United States Supreme Court or a return to trade court to narrow the scope of the injunction to allow some tariffs to move forward. 

Sitkowski noted that the ruling “does not directly apply” to certain tariffs on Brazil or India and may not address the separate removal of the “de minimis,” or minimal exception for packages valued under $800.
