Mollie Sitkowski Provides Overview of Tariff Impacts With Talking Coffee Pro Podcast

Customs and international trade partner Mollie Sitkowski gave an overview of the impact of tariffs on businesses and trade on the Talking Coffee Pro podcast.

Providing a recent history of the use of tariffs in international trade policy, including those on China and Mexico for various products, Sitkowski noted that since “Liberation Day” on April 5, pauses and reduction on tariffs have gone into effect for many countries, excluding China.

“From the reciprocal tariffs, there are certain very good exemptions,” Sitkowski noted. “The first are, if you are subject to the Canada-Mexico tariff, you are not subject to reciprocal tariffs. Under the first Trump administration, if you had a Chinese product, like a product in Mexico that was being made from Chinese components, you could qualify for NAFTA and qualify as a product of Mexico, but now you could also qualify as a China product and have to pay the China tariffs.”
