In “Long-awaited Law Commission Report Suggests Only Minor Tweaks to ‘Gold Standard’ of Arbitration,” London partner Robert Campbell, associate Christopher Jefferies and trainee solicitor Emily Evans discussed The Law Commission of England and Wales’ completion of its long-awaited review of the Arbitration Act 1996.

The authors explain that the consensus in the report was “the Act works well, and […] root and branch reform is not needed or wanted,” and how the 27-year-old act is still more than fit for purpose and represents a gold standard that other jurisdictions aspire to.

In the article, the authors point out a few corrections and initiatives including the arbitrator independence and disclosure, the summary procedure, the governing law of the arbitration agreement, arbitrator immunity and jurisdiction.
