In the latest The Legal Intelligencer “Keystone Conversations,” a series focused on diverse attorneys in Pennsylvania and how they have achieved success and developed their legal careers, the publication asked corporate partner Vanessa Tabler about work-life balance, how she manages to stay on top of a busy schedule, and the changing pace of M&A work over the past few years.
Tabler highlighted the important relationships she’s developed and resilience it took to build her practice as a go-to deal maker and make partner early in her career. She noted how it has become increasingly important for Big Law lawyers to not only be good lawyers, but to be good industry partners who know their clients’ industry and the issues in that industry.
As a minority, first-generation lawyer, Tabler discussed how her experiences inspire her to be a resource to the diverse lawyers coming up behind her and provide the mentorship that she didn’t always have.
Tabler also offered advice for achieving good work-life balance, particularly how she has done so as a single mother. She noted the importance of defining your goals, employing good time management, and establishing boundaries.
