Dan Prokott Addresses How Employers Can Support Protesting Workers

Bloomberg Law

In an article for Bloomberg Law, partner Dan Prokott discussed several ways that employers can support their workers during the ongoing protests against police brutality.

Prokott told the publication that employers’ efforts to listen to workers must start at the top.

“There needs to be heightened leadership at the highest level of the company,” Prokott said. “The empathy is important, but to show empathy is to hear what others have to say,” he added.

Prokott also spoke about the employment risks for workers. If a worker is arrested for breaking a curfew while engaging in a peaceful protest, Prokott said he’d advise employers to “tread very lightly” when considering whether to fire that worker.
