Kate Gold, Lynne Anderson and Alexa Miller published an article for the LaborSphere blog titled, “Maryland’s Expanded Equal Pay Law Takes Effect October 1, 2016.” The team discussed Maryland’s amended Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, which took effect October 1. The revised law expands the prohibition on wage discrimination based on sex, to also include gender identity. Maryland is the fourth state to pass legislation targeting wage disparity based on gender.
