Across the Pond: The EU-US Privacy Shield

In an article for Information Age, Faegre Baker Daniels partners Huw Beverley-Smith and Leita Walker, and counsel Kathleen Rice described how important data protection has become in the global marketplace and what companies can expect when working with the Privacy Shield. The authors discussed how “EU data protection laws restrict the transfer of personal data to countries without an ‘adequate’ level of protection for the processing of personal data” and why the Privacy Shield can help to resolve any security issues.

“For many data-reliant organisations, particularly financial services and technology companies operating across the Atlantic, investing time and resources in Privacy Shield certification is simply an unavoidable cost of doing business in a global marketplace,” said the authors.
