Libby Baney to Politico: Notorious Markets List Sheds Light on Domain Register Associated With Shady e-Pharmacies
The U.S. Trade Representative recently released its annual “Notorious Markets List,” a report that tabs agents that “facilitate substantial copyright piracy and trademark counterfeiting.” As detailed in Politico, this year’s list included Rebel, a Canadian online domain register behind a “disproportionate number of illegal online pharmacies.” Libby Baney, Faegre Baker Daniels counsel and founder and executive director of the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies (ASOP), told Politico that while the U.S. Trade Representative is not a law enforcement agency, its list helps raise awareness of—and draw legal attention to—bad agents.
As executive director of ASOP, Baney works to protect consumers from buying prescription drugs from illegal and potentially dangerous online sources.
