FSMA: New Rules Mean New Risks for Food Industry Clients

Faegre Baker Daniels partner and food litigation and regulatory practice lead Sarah Brew co-authored an article on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) for the ABA Products Liability Newsletter's winter edition with associate, Rachael Dettmann Spiegel—a member of the firm's product liability litigation and food and agriculture groups.

As the FDA and the industry prepare to roll out FSMA implementation in 2015, it is important that food and feed clients (1) understand what sections of FSMA are applicable to their operations, and (2) take concerted steps in implementing required policies and procedures prior to Aug. 30, 2016.

The article explains FSMA, discusses its impacts on the food industry, and provides a high-level overview of the newly revised proposed rules released by the FDA in late September.
