Collaborate, Communicate, Grow: Brian Schnell Quoted in Multi-Unit Franchisee
A combination of factors has resulted in more collaboration between franchisors and franchisees than ever before. The rise of multi-unit operators, the post-recession economic environment, and regulatory and political threats to franchising have united the two sides as both seek ways to grow into the future.
Brian Schnell, corporate partner at Faegre Baker Daniels and head of the firm's franchise and distribution practice, was quoted in the October 2014 issue of Multi-Unit Franchisee about the unique relationship between franchisor and franchisee and how it is changing.
Schnell said there is much more collaboration today than a decade ago. "It was more of a what to do and when to do it approach, command-and-control versus collaboration," he said. "All of this has changed, maybe not completely, but a big part is multi-unit franchisees with the influence they have and the role they play from a brand perspective. They would say we still have some work to do."
