The Supreme Court ruling effectively ending the federal Defense of Marriage Act leaves same sex-couples in Minnesota and their employers assessing their benefits. The change in law will likely benefit employees, but the impact on their employers is still in question.
In an interview on KARE 11 in Minneapolis, Faegre Baker Daniels associate Megan Hladilek said she hopes that the IRS will clarify what the Court's decision will mean regarding costs for employers. "There are various predictions about the costs. There could be cost savings and there could be increased costs, so, it might be a net."
