Trevor Belden Passionate About Practicing Law and Promoting Indianapolis

"Be prepared. That's really how you provide the best service to your clients," Trevor Belden of Baker & Daniels told the Indianapolis Star in its story, "Rising Star: Trevor Belden - Attorney/Entrepreneur."

"It's the same with starting a business," Belden continued in the Q&A. "Focus on that and spend time to plan and be prepared."

At 35, Belden is one of the youngest partners at Baker & Daniels, specializing in corporate finance and acquisitions, the story reported. But law isn't his only passion. In July, he opened The Ball & Biscuit, a downtown bar located on Massachusetts Avenue, the Indianapolis Star reported.

"I chose (The Ball & Biscuit) because I'm very interested in promoting downtown and contributing to the downtown scene," Belden said in the Q&A. "I'm a big advocate of downtown. Another reason is I moved myself to this area, and I wanted a place to go that I really enjoy and hang out. A big part of it was I like entrepreneurial activities, and starting a business seemed like a good fit for the area and it made sense from a business perspective."

Belden was a founding member of IndyHub, a local not-for-profit that helps to retain and attract young professionals in Indianapolis, and he has been involved in the Penrod Society and Young Professionals of Central Indiana. Belden currently serves on the board of Develop Indy, the economic development entity for the city.

"Mentors, for me, have been critical in my professional development," Belden told the Indianapolis Star. "It's especially the case in the law field, because after you graduate you still need so much education and training and you rely on more senior attorneys to provide that. Good advice and mentoring can make all the difference."
