Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) Issues Facing Retailers

Partners Tom Barton, Seamus Duffy and Douglas Heffner attended the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) and Retail Litigation Center (RLC) annual Retail Law Conference in San Antonio, Texas from October 28-30, 2015.  This conference, which drew attorneys from 65 national retailers, featured presentations on topics including The Future of Retail; Implications of Future Trends for Retail’s Legal Leaders; The Future of Customer Data in Retail: Legal Issues in New Technologies; Cybersecurity: Metrics and Dashboards; Impact of False Ad and Labeling Claims Litigation on Retailers; Wage and Hour: Policy and Class Action Developments; and Privacy, Data Sharing & Marketing Risks for the Mobile Retail Frontier.  Seamus presented on Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) issues facing retailers (including promotional text messaging and reassigned number liability).  Our Retail Industry Group has been working to enhance the firm’s relationship with RILA and RLC.
