Genetic Testing and Underwriting: An Ethical Dilemma

Philadelphia partner Steve Serfass spoke at the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals’ 26th Annual Conference on October 7 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Steve’s presentation was titled, “Genetic Testing and Underwriting:  An Ethical Dilemma” and focused on the competition between the significant objective value genetic testing information provides insurance underwriters on the one hand with the serious ethical concerns many in our society have expressed about any use of such information by the insurance company.
