Artful Law: The Law of Art

Washington partner Janet Fries was a co-presenter at a workshop entitled, “Artful Law: The Law of Art,” at the Artomatic arts celebration on May 22 in the NoMa neighborhood of Washington. The turnout was overwhelming, with more than 100 people taking notes as the panel discussed a range of topics affecting artists, including copyrights, licensing and estate planning. The seminar benefited local DC photographers, musicians, painters, and other artists and performers by providing a forum in which they could ask informal legal questions about issues pertaining to their works of art.

Artomatic is an annual event in Washington, D.C., where local visual artists, musicians, and performers of varying experience levels gather together to showcase their talents.
