Overview
San Francisco partner Cheryl Orr spoke at the American Conference Institute’s 11th National Forum on Wage Hour Claims and Class Actions held on January 31 – February 1, 2011, in Miami, Fla. Invited panelists included leading in-house counsel, members of the judiciary and leading practitioners in the wage and hour class action arena.
Cheryl, co-chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, was joined by Margaret Keane, a partner with Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, in addressing "Business Considerations in Reductions in Force, Revised Work Schedules and Mergers & Acquisitions: Negating the Risk of Running Afoul of Federal and State Regulations." Their presentation focused on the difficult decisions companies must make in today’s economy with regard to work schedules, overtime and layoffs and the additional costs they may face should wage and hour compliance fall short.
