Overview
Private client associate Zach Starr took part in a session at the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Spring 2026 National Conference pertaining to estate planning for the moderately rich. The session focused on how the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) has enacted record-high, and now permanent, federal estate tax exemptions, meaning that many individuals and families of moderate but significant wealth are no longer under the threat of federal estate taxation. Topics discussed included the current federal income tax as well as the federal and state estate tax environment; different estate planning vehicles, including life insurance and their strategies for federal income and local estate tax purposes; probate avoidance; and asset protection strategies for current clients and their future beneficiaries.
