Allegations of Cancer-Causing Chemicals in Personal Care and Cosmetics Products

Legal Compact

Webinar

Overview

Join us for the kickoff of Faegre Drinker’s newest series, Legal Compact — your one-stop shop for the latest in cosmetics & personal care products law — as we discuss the future for allegations of cancer-causing ingredients.

A quick search of recent personal injury filings against companies in the cosmetics and personal care product industry reveals that carcinogens are a hot topic within the plaintiffs' bar. Allegations of cancer-causing chemicals and toxins have infiltrated media outlets, gained consumers' attention and resulted in a flurry of new personal injury lawsuits. Simultaneously, a federal judge in Florida sounded the death knell for similar claims in the Zantac MDL upon finding that the plaintiffs' allegations were rooted in unreliable science that could not support the plaintiffs' alleged connection between Zantac and cancer.

So, what, if anything, does this Zantac ruling mean for other cases alleging cancer-causing ingredients? What can industry leaders and companies do to ensure they have science on their side if and when needed? Please join us as we consult with our in-house team for science and experts to answer these and other questions in the context of the cosmetics and personal care product industry.
