Cheryl Orr and Kate Gold Speak at Women Leadership in Law Program

Overview

Drinker Biddle was a lead supporter of the inaugural Women Leadership in Law program hosted by the Daily Journal in Los Angeles on May 23. The event brought law firm and in-house practitioners together for insightful discussions on topics important to the legal field and of interest to women leaders.

Managing partner Cheryl Orr was the event’s co-chair, and moderated the panel, “Women Success Stories: I’m With Her.” The esteemed panel was comprised of four of Cheryl's law school friends: Janice Block, EVP, Chief Legal and Chief Administrative Officer at Kaplan, Inc.; Katie McGinty, former U.S. Senate candidate and current Partner at Militia Hill Ventures; Deirdre O’Callaghan, Chief Legal Counsel at the Center for Internet Security; and Susan Ullman, General Counsel at the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. The panel discussed how they used their law degrees to advance their varied and diverse careers, and how they’ve dealt with challenges and supported each other both in their professional and personal lives.

Partner Kate Gold was also a presenter at the conference. She spoke on the panel, “The Career Trajectory of Women in Law: Paths and Opportunities,” along with Cecily Barclay of Perkins Coie, the Hon. Christine W. Byrd of the Los Angeles Superior Court, Jennifer Stanley of Fenwick & West and Lisa Von Eschen of Lamb and Kawakami.

At the conclusion of the event, Cheryl, along with other honorees, was highlighted as one of the Top Women Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal.
