The Current Landscape of EU-US Data Transfers Post-Schrems and the EU-US Privacy Shield

Overview

On April 19, 2016, Chicago partner Ken Dort delivered a presentation to the Chicago Bar Association on the recent developments regarding the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and related issues concerning international data transfers.

Ken’s presentation, titled “The Current Landscape of EU-US Data Transfers Post-Schrems and the EU-US Privacy Shield,” covered issues ranging from the recent Schrems decision invalidating the US Safe Harbor protocols, the new Privacy Shield framework, and strategies for maintaining compliance with both EU and US law as the new framework goes into effect later this year.

Ken spoke at the invitation of the CBA’s Cyberlaw and Data Privacy Committee.
