Faegre Drinker Continues Growth of Customs & International Trade Team With Experienced Trade Compliance Counsel Beata Spuhler
Faegre Drinker announced today that Beata Spuhler has joined the firm’s customs and international trade team and government and regulatory group in Minneapolis, expanding the team of attorneys based throughout Washington D.C., Chicago, Indianapolis and Philadelphia into the Twin Cities. Spuhler joins the firm from a multinational conglomerate where she spearheaded global trade compliance for subsidiaries operating in over 70 countries.
Spuhler brings more than 25 years of experience counseling businesses on international trade matters, including import and export compliance, transportation and logistics, responsible sourcing, and advising on forced labor concerns. She works closely with clients to implement strategic solutions on customs valuation, tariff mitigation, country of origin analyses, and duty preference programs to help companies navigate global regulatory complexities.

Spuhler advises clients on compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements, partner agencies such as the FDA and EPA, and qualifications for U.S. government contracts. Her practice will span nations across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, enabling her to provide companies with global trade compliance strategies. Spuhler also conducts internal risk assessments, manages government audits and investigations, prepares disclosures, and develops tailored compliance programs and training initiatives for clients and their employees.
Spuhler earned her Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She earned her bachelor’s from DePaul University.
