Faegre Drinker Welcomes Philadelphia-Based Counsel Jacquelyn (Jaci) Gordon to its Insurance Practice

Faegre Drinker announced today that Jaci Gordon has joined Faegre Drinker’s insurance practice group as counsel in the Philadelphia office. Gordon joins from an international insurance company where she was vice president and tax counsel.

Gordon provides experienced counsel to clients in the insurance industry as they address the complexities of federal tax requirements, including definitional requirements under Sections 7702 and 72, diversification requirements, and the investor control doctrine. Throughout more than a decade of practice, she has helped clients to analyze investment structures and assets, navigate investment partnerships (including hedge funds and private equity funds), address novel tax issues (including the tax treatment of digital currency) and more.

“We’re excited about Jaci’s arrival and the experience she brings within the insurance community,” said Stephen Serfass, leader of the insurance practice. “Her significant experience and deep knowledge on insurance-specific federal and state tax issues will make her a great member of our team and resource to our clients across the country.”

Throughout her career, Gordon has worked with U.S. and non-U.S.-issued life insurance and annuity products, investment companies, individuals, and other business entities and their stakeholders on a wide spectrum of tax matters. She has extensive experience in foreign, federal, state and local tax issues.

Gordon earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and political science from Nazareth College of Rochester, where she also played basketball for four years. She earned her Juris Doctor and Master of Laws from Villanova University School of Law.
