Daniel Mao Joins FaegreBD's Intellectual Property Practice, Bolstering International Reach and Technical Expertise

Daniel H. Mao, Ph.D. has joined Faegre Baker Daniels’ intellectual property practice as a partner in the firm’s Silicon Valley office.

Drawing on more than 15 years of experience working with electronics and software companies, Mao helps clients develop, implement and optimize global patent strategies. He provides comprehensive intellectual property services, including patent prosecution, licensing, patent litigation, and noninfringement and invalidity opinions. He has particular experience advising China-based companies on executing U.S. patent strategies and helping international companies build IP protection in China.

“Dan’s technical expertise and extensive intellectual property experience reinforces our group’s strength internationally as we help clients in the U.S. and China manage and protect innovations to achieve their business goals,” said David Gross, FaegreBD intellectual property partner and member of the firm’s management board.

With a doctorate in applied physics, Mao’s technical background is instrumental when developing patent strategies for complex client products and processes. His technical expertise includes hardware, software, renewable energy, semiconductors and bioinformatics.

Mao earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law; a Ph.D. in applied physics from Stanford University; and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of California, Berkeley.
