Mark Terman Article Published in Inside Counsel

Los Angeles partner Mark Terman wrote an article for Inside Counsel titled, “Social Media’s Impact on the Workplace.”

Mark, a partner in the Labor & Employment Practice Group, notes that despite the exponential growth of social media, some companies are slow to recognize and manage its impact.

In this article, he discusses employee productivity, NLRB efforts to manage employers, employee screening, password privacy laws, and false advertising.

He emphasizes that employers and their counsel should develop a social media policy and that: “Key areas should include: that employees do not speak for the company unless given permission to do so, limit personal social networking while at work, be respectful of others, avoid posts that can be taken as malicious, obscene or discriminatory to legally protected classes and encouraging employee access to internal company channels to address their concerns."
