With a command of the fundamentals and nuances of insurance receiverships — and the resources to keep pace with the shifting regulatory landscape — Faegre Drinker is integrally involved in responding to and resolving several of the industry’s most complex and significant insolvencies, including handling the largest on record. We are legal counsel to the National Organization of Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Associations (NOLHGA) and the National Conference of Insurance Guaranty Funds (NCIGF). We advise on national rehabilitations and liquidations — and notably worked with NOLHGA and its members on more than 40 life, health, annuity and long-term care insolvencies. Our professionals also have served as the in-house or contract special deputy receiver or counsel to the receiver on more than 50 insurance receivership estates. Drawing on vast industry knowledge, we work with receivers and guaranty associations on restructuring plans, reinsurance transactions, service agreements and other mechanisms designed to protect policyholders. And we assist NOLHGA and NCIGF on state, federal and international public policy matters. Our receivership experience enables us to advise insurance companies — healthy and otherwise — on solvency issues and developments affecting the industry.
