Trade Specialist and Licensed Customs Broker

Overview

Therese Ignich applies her sharply honed tariff classification skills to support clients on their operational import needs. Therese conducts pre- and post-entry audits, analyzes customs trade data, and utilizes access databases and statistical analysis to review tariff classification. She also prepares administrative filings, such as protests and applications for further review, post summary corrections, and pre-entry reviews.

Therese frequently assists clients with invoicing and entry requirements for importation of goods and advises on compliance with other governmental agency import requirements, including those of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She also assists clients with day-to-day import operational issues, including interfacing with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Centers for Excellence and Expertise (CEE), or the importer’s customs broker. Therese frequently manages large-scale protest and post summary correction filings in connection with client duty refund initiatives, as well as in support of tariff classification litigation in the U.S. Court of International Trade or the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Therese spent more than 20 years in managerial positions in the customs brokerage industry, including as a national account manager and import manager, working closely with customs officials throughout the country. During this time, she developed extensive knowledge on entries and entry procedures, including textile quota entries, temporary importations, cargo release, and product detentions and seizures.
