Overview

Jeff Beck defends and counsels companies in employment litigation and compliance issues, with a focus on representing employers in Occupational Safety & Health Administration litigation and enforcement matters. Jeff has served as a Chapter Editor of the Bloomberg Law and American Bar Association’s Occupational Safety and Health Law treatise (Third and current Fourth Editions). He defends businesses in employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful discrimination matters in state and federal court and before governmental agencies nationwide. Jeff proactively works with clients to implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance and avoid disputes.

OSHA Experience

Jeff defends employers in federal and state plan OSHA matters. He regularly assists employers in resolving and contesting OSHA citations both before and during the administrative hearing process. He also regularly counsels employers in a wide variety of OSHA related matters to help companies keep their workers safe, including complying with OSHA standards, developing and implementing policies, practices, and procedures, conducting workplace injury investigations, and participating in on-site OSHA inspections and responding to OSHA inquiries.

Employment Litigation and Counseling Experience

Jeff defends employers in a wide variety of employment litigation matters throughout the country. Jeff’s experience includes representing employers in jury trials and bench trials and before the EEOC and other state and local agencies during claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. He has defended employers and argued on their behalf in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Ninth Circuits. He routinely strategizes with employers avoiding litigation. He has represented businesses in a wide variety of employment matters, including matters involving Title VII, FMLA, ADA, wage and hour issues, wrongful discharge, noncompetition, and other employment issues. Jeff counsels employers on day-to-day employment issues, including hiring, performance management, and termination and reviews employment agreements, severance agreements, employee handbooks and personnel policies. He provides in-house training for managers and supervisors on workplace issues and laws.

Disability/Housing and Website Accommodation

Jeff counsels and defends businesses, public accommodations and commercial facilities, on complying with ADA standards for accessible building design, website accessibility, and requirements to provide auxiliary aids and/or modify programs to facilitate equal enjoyment of services and programs. He defends businesses in litigation under Title III of the ADA and represents housing providers on matters relating to federal, state and local fair housing laws.

Workers Compensation

Jeff advises employers on workers’ compensation matters. Jeff conducts comprehensive, state-by-state claims evaluations, and analyzes and develops strategies to help businesses design, implement and manage effective claims handling processes.
