Royal Thai Government Guided Through Department of Commerce Investigation

The Royal Thai Government (RTG) came to Faegre Drinker for legal guidance in a U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) investigation into whether Thai producers of certain solar cells were receiving government subsidies. Throughout the investigation, Faegre Drinker assisted the RTG in responding to extensive DOC questionnaires covering a wide range of programs administered by various RTG agencies that impact Thai solar cell producers.

Faegre Drinker also supported the RTG during a DOC audit conducted in Bangkok, Thailand, which reviewed the RTG's questionnaire responses. In addition, Faegre Drinker submitted legal briefs to the DOC, contending that the relevant programs were either not utilized, did not constitute unfair "subsidies" under U.S. law, or provided minimal or no benefit.

Finally, Faegre Drinker represented the RTG at a hearing before the DOC in Washington, D.C., near the conclusion of the investigation.
