MPR News reported on the passing of U.S. District Judge David Doty, one of Minnesota’s longest-serving federal judges, highlighting remembrances from those who worked closely with him throughout his career.
Litigation partner Randy Kahnke, who served as Judge Doty’s law clerk from 1989 to 1991, reflected on the judge’s legacy and lasting impact on the legal community. “He understood that the law, at its heart, ultimately is about affecting the lives of human beings. Cases ultimately affect the lives of individual people, and he never lost sight of that,” Kahnke said.
Kahnke also noted that Judge Doty’s service as a Marine Corps captain shaped his commitment to public service and informed his approach to managing the hundreds of cases that came before him during his decades on the bench.
