David Barrett Discusses M&A Trends and New Activity in 2026 With Indiana Lawyer

Executive partner David Barrett spoke with the Indiana Lawyer to review the year’s trends in mergers and acquisitions and to look forward to new issues in 2026.

Barrett explained that while many were optimistic heading into 2025, tariffs significantly impacted the industry, particularly among mergers in the manufacturing and industry sectors. But Barrett added that thanks to a more relaxed regulatory environment, sectors such as financial services saw an uptick in activity. 

Looking forward to 2026, Barrett added that while he was optimistic about seeing an increase in M&A activity, the artificial intelligence sector constituted a “wild card,” with questions remaining on whether tech companies will continue to invest in the AI industry.
