Erica MacDonald Quoted by KSTP-TV on Importance of Trial Testimony

In a news segment for KSTP-TV, business litigation partner Erica MacDonald discussed what to expect from prosecutors in a trial regarding child sex trafficking.

Regarding the alleged victims, MacDonald said, “They’re going to have to come into court, be put under oath, and explain to 12 jury members they’ve never met these particular things in which they engaged, which is difficult.”

“You’re really looking at what corroboration is there,” MacDonald explained. “Looking at the victims as they testify, listening to what they say about what happened, but also the little details. Describing the room. Describing the penthouse. Describing words that were used.”

Another component MacDonald is watching is the testimony of originally an indicted co-conspirator who pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and obstruction in December and is now cooperating with prosecutors. “That’s key testimony,” she stated. Additionally, MacDonald said prosecutors would likely introduce other evidence gathered in the last year and a half.
