Jason G. Weiss Discusses Disruptionware as Featured Guest on Cybersecurity Podcast
Privacy, cybersecurity and data strategy attorney Jason G. Weiss was a featured guest on the To The Point - Cybersecurity podcast where he shared his top cyber defense tips on the episode titled “Disruptionware: The 21st Century Weapon.”
On the podcast, Weiss discusses disruptionware – a cybercrime that collets and destroys ransomware – and how this growing threat infests companies. Weiss goes through examples of schools, hospitals and businesses that have been victims of disruptionware attacks and the impact of the attacks.
Weiss also talks about social awareness training companies can implement to be more proactive in cybersecurity and less reactive. “The biggest mistake we’re making from a cybersecurity standpoint is we spend too much time putting up firewalls,” said Weiss. “There’s not enough time teaching people how to avoid phishing attacks, whaling attacks, business email compromise attacks.”
