FCC Seeks Comment on Reassigned Numbers; Dozens of Commenters Answer the Call
The FCC sought comments in its efforts to address the issue of calls to reassigned numbers (phone numbers that were once used by individuals who provided caller consent, but have since been given to new individuals). The agency received 32 comments from entities such as the Retail Industry Leaders Association, Comcast, The Internet Association, Neustar and the D.C. Public School system.
The FCC has proposed creating a database that could be consulted to identify reassigned numbers. Comments to the FCC’s Notice of Inquiry are due on September 26, 2017.
