Faegre Baker Daniels and FaegreBD Consulting hosted the third annual Energy & Environmental Symposium focused on water issues in Washington, D.C. on April 13. Speakers, including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senator Cory Gardner and Senator Dan Sullivan, addressed the Waters of the U.S. and other regulatory issues, the impacts and solutions to the Western drought, the intersection of water and energy, and drinking water and wastewater infrastructure concerns, and discussed what is happening outside the beltway and what can be done within the beltway to solve some of our most vexing water-related energy and environmental issues.
Leader McCarthy specifically discussed water policy and drought issues in California and the need to find common ground. Sen. Gardner talked about the intersection of energy, water and agriculture in Colorado and the importance of water storage, conservation and partnership between local, state and federal government. And Sen. Sullivan explained the need for aging water infrastructure to be addressed, he also discussed the need for any water infrastructure in many small towns in Alaska and across the U.S.
Politico covered the event in a Pro Energy article (available to subscribers) as well as in the publication’s Morning Energy, Morning Agriculture and Influence tipsheets.
