Mike Stanchfield Recognized in National Law Journal for M&A work with Supervalu

Mike Stanchfield, corporate partner in FaegreBD’s Minneapolis office, was featured in the National Law Journal’s “Twin Cities Legal Departments of the Year” special issue on April 6. He was cited for his involvement in the 2014 acquisition of 18 Rainbow grocery stores by Supervalu, Inc, in which he led a legal team representing Supervalu in negotiations with the seller in the multiparty buying group of independent grocers.

"We were oftentimes a bridge between Supervalu and the legal counsel for these other buyers," Stanchfield said in the National Law Journal.

Persistent Twin Cities media attention added to the sale’s complexity, Stanchfield noted: "A lot of attention was paid to the deal because it affects a lot of people and consumers.” The article also explained that in addition to M&A lawyers, Stanchfield brought in FaegreBD attorneys in labor and employment, environmental, intellectual property, tax and real estate practices. Throughout the transaction, Supervalu turned to Stanchfield to “put all the pieces together,” the article said.
