Maly Comments on Health Care Reform Compliance in Twin Cities Business

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that was signed into law in March 2010 includes a provision that penalizes employers who offer better health care plans to their top executives than their other employees. But implementation of that rule, and many other parts of the health care reform law, has been delayed, because regulators are still writing the guidelines.

Meanwhile, President Obama and lawmakers in at least 40 states have already proposed changes to the unfinished and half-implemented law, leaving employers confused about whether they should start revising their health care plans or wait until the legal challenges have been resolved.

In a Twin Cities Business article on health insurance benefits for employees, Maureen Maly indicates that an outright repeal is unlikely, but that some type of change should be anticipated. "Employers need to march on with compliance," Maly said, "but I also think they need to keep what's going on judicially and legislatively on their radar." Read more.
