Andrew Soshnick Sees Year Getting Busier and Busier for Divorces

"This has been the busiest year I have ever had, and it continues to get busier and busier," Andrew Soshnick of Baker & Daniels told WTHR.com in its report on "Indiana Counties Abound in Most Divorces List."

Indiana has some of the highest divorce rates in the country, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Seven Indiana counties have landed on the Census Bu reau's top 50 list for divorce, WTHR.com reported.

"Indiana has one of the shorter waiting periods in the country once a divorce case is filed," Soshnick told WTHR.com. Divorce in Indiana takes 60 days from the time one person in the marriage files until it's final.

Wayne County in east central Indiana is at the top of the state's list with almost 20 percent of couples filing for divorce. Floyd, Madison, Vigo, Vanderburgh, Marion and Clark counties also made the list, more than any other state, WTHR.com reported.

Some of the blame can be cast on the economy, WTHR.com reported.

"Financial circumstances, oddly enough," Soshnick said. "Most people think it is infidelity."

Yes, money is the number one reason people split, according to the WTHR.com story. "Substantially blue collar and those folks sometimes have been struggling with difficult financial circumstances and difficult relational issues for many years," Soshnick said.
