Steps Outlined for Livestock Indemnity Relief

Legislation contained in the 2008 farm bill authorizes the Farm Service Agency to provide disaster assistance payments for certain livestock owners and contract growers who endured losses due to livestock deaths caused by adverse weather conditions or events.

Guidelines for the Livestock Indemnity Program released July 2 require applications for relief based on losses incurred in 2008 calendar to be submitted by Sept. 13.
