Tax Bills and Appeal Deadlines in Central Indiana

Appeal Deadline in July for Tax Bills Mailed in Indianapolis (Marion County)

The second installment 2007 (pay 2008) Marion County tax bills are in the mail. The taxpayer will have 45 days from the date the tax bill is issued to file an appeal contesting the March 1, 2007, assessed value of their property. Tax bills are due July 9, 2009, and appeals are due in late July.

Appeal Deadlines in Boone and Hamilton Counties

Unlike in the past, March 1, 2008, Notices of New Assessments will not be mailed in Boone County or Hamilton County. All assessment changes will appear on the tax bills mailed in June. The taxpayer will have 45 days from the date the tax bill is issued to file an appeal contesting the March 1, 2008, assessed value of their property. Boone County mailed tax bills on June 10, 2009, with a due date of June 30, and Hamilton County is expected to mail tax bills before the end of the month, with a due date of July 10. Appeals are due in July for Boone County and early August for Hamilton County.

It is imperative that taxpayers closely monitor the tax bills received this month and be aware of appeal deadlines from those bills.
