The State of Trade

The State of Trade

Chicago partner James Sawyer spoke at an invitation-only program presented by World 50 on Thursday Oct. 6.

World 50 is a private community for senior executives from globally respected organizations to intimately share ideas, solutions and collaborative discovery.

James, a member of the Customs & International Trade Team in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group, led a discussion of “The State of Trade” and the impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as the trilateral agreement approaches its 18th anniversary.

The convergence of increasingly unpredictable markets and continued security risks has resulted in a heightened focus on trade compliance.

The discussion focused on the current standing of NAFTA, how it has affected globalization, and what the future holds.

James also discussed how to anticipate potential trade compliance issues and address current risks.
