Renewable Energy Certificates and Carbon Offsets: Strategies to Negotiate Offsets and Structure REC Transactions

Overview

Christopher Berendt, Of Counsel to the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, will speak at a CLE webinar entitled, “Renewable Energy Certificates and Carbon Offsets: Strategies to Negotiate Offsets and Structure REC Transactions,” which will take place on April 20, 2011.

Chris, a member of the Environment & Energy Practice Group and leader of its Environmental Markets Team, will speak on a panel providing guidance for counsel to businesses engaged in trading and negotiating renewable energy certifications (RECs) and offsets to reduce and manage carbon emissions.  Counsel advising energy users must understand the role of RECs and carbon offsets in both the mandatory and voluntary markets as trading and negotiating offsets and RECs significantly impacts the ability of a business to meet overall clean energy goals.  The panel will examine RECs and carbon offsets and outlines strategies for trading and negotiating RECs and offsets for carbon reduction.
