Patent Eligibility in the US

On September 15, 2015, Bob Stoll was one of the speakers at the Inaugural Ceremony for the opening of the World Intellectual Property Forum and spoke to an audience of about 350 on the importance of broad patent subject matter eligibility for the creation of economic growth and job creation.

On September 16, Bob presented on two different panels on subject matter eligibility. The first panel, moderated by former chief IP counsel from Glaxo, Sherry Knowles, was centered on how recent cases at the Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit were affecting biotechnology research. The second panel, moderated by Dorsey and Whitney partner Paul Meiklejohn, focused on the effects recent cases and guidelines are having on the high tech industries with respect to computer implemented inventions. Bob was joined by Associate General Counsel and Chief Patent Counsel for Microsoft, Micky Minhas.
