Launching a High Frequency Trading Firm

Florham Park associate Jim Fischer was a panelist at the New Industry Workshop on the topic of Launching a High Frequency Firm and Understanding Current Market Trends in FX, Fixed Income and Futures in New York City, New York on March 2, 2010.  The workshop addressed issues around launching a high frequency trading firm, the impact of the constantly shifting market dynamic in foreign exchange, fixed income and futures high frequency trading and why these asset classes represent a growing area of opportunity for the trading community.  Breakout sessions at the workshop examined: key legal, tax, IP and employment considerations in setting up your own firm; technology and infrastructure decisions; and establishing relationships with prime brokers, counterparties and Exchanges/ECN’s.
