Issues to Consider in Clinical Practice Guidelines Development

On November 21, 2014, Washington, D.C., partner Jesse Witten and associate Melissa Egan gave a presentation to the Council for Medical Specialty Societies entitled “Issues to Consider in Clinical Practice Guidelines Development.”  They discussed a recent enforcement action under the Anti-Kickback Statute against a medical supply company for allegedly influencing the content of a clinical practice guideline, the Institute of Medicine recommendations for clinical guidelines development, best practices for dealing with conflicts of interest, and medical malpractice issues.
