Judicial Education: Expanding Knowledge, Awareness and Appreciation Among State Court Judges to Secure Increased Use of Structured Settlements

National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA) Fall Educational Conference

Overview

Insurance partner Sandra Jones attended the NSSTA Fall Educational Conference to present a session on judicial education.

NSSTA’s judicial education program aims to equip judges with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions on whether a structured settlement truly serves the best interests of the injured party. 1). Preventing exploitation of Vulnerable Litigants. A judge handling a case involving a minor or a cognitively impaired adult must understand the long-term financial implications of structured settlements to protect the plaintiff from being exploited.  2). Judicial training promotes the adoption of best practices, improving consistency and fairness in rulings.
